KISS - Faces
When KISS was emerging in the 1970s New York "glitter scene," makeup was a staple for most bands, KISS frontman Gene Simmons, “Well, we were more like football players — all of us were over 6 feet tall — and it just wasn't convincing!”
The band eventually found a way to make makeup work for them by covering their faces with black-and-white paint and taking on-stage personas.
