The albums working title was Everest, an inside joke as it was the brand of cigarettes smoked by the sound engineer, Geoff Emerick. The Fab Four was going to trek to Mount Everest for the cover photo but no one wanted to make the long journey. So McCartney suggested calling the album after the street the studio was located on and photographing the cover art there. The shoot was done in 30 min!
